Five Unmissable Indie Gigs in Cambridge this March

The Wholls

Tues 13 March | 19:30pm | The Portland Arms | £7 | Tickets

Having taken notes from the likes of Sundara Karma, The Hunna and The Amazons, The Wholls are the latest band to graduate from the school of British indie rock. The four-piece will bring their stock-in-trade swagger-fuelled anthems to Cambridge’s The Portland Arms, this month.

Tom Lumley

Thurs 15 March | 19:00pm | The Portland Arms |£6 | Tickets

Cambridgeshire’s very own Tom Lumley will be launching brand new cut ‘Sky High’ in his hometown haunt, The Portland Arms, this March. Having cut his teeth supporting bands such as The Hunna, Coasts, and The Sherlocks, this show is sure to be a triumphant return to his base camp.

The Recoupes

Fri 16 March | 18:45pm | Junction 1 |£5 | Tickets

With BBC airplay and career-changing support slots under their belt, The Recoupes are paving their way to mainstream consciousness. Specialising in the kind of sun-tinted indie rock that bands like Jaws and The Drums are renowned for, it seems like it’s a matter of time before The Recoupes follow in their footsteps.

Mon 19 March | 19:00pm | The Portland Arms |£6.50 | Tickets

Swindow-hailing trio, YVES, will be delivering their DIY package of high-octane indie to The Portland Arms, this March. The eleven-date sprint will mark the band’s very first headline tour, seeing the trio go from strength to strength.

Mon 26 March | 19:00pm | The Portland Arms |£6 | Tickets

Skeletal guitar lines, brooding synths, and ambient soundscapes coalesce to form Vök‘s soporific dream pop. Catching the silver bird all the way from Iceland, the Reykjavík trio will be making a whistle-stop in the UK so catch them while you can.
